The design for this custom home features Timber Frame Construction and there are only about 300 Timber Frame Contractors in the entire Country that specialize in this form of construction. Sierra Timber Frames of Nevada City, CA was the primary builder of this home. The technique involves building a framework of wooden beams and then enclosing them with a shell of composite material. The builder used original growth Douglas Fir beams for the framework of the house. There are no nails used in the construction of the primary framework. One of the highlights of this home is the energy efficient heating system that was installed. Plus, the high thermal value of the insulation and construction adds to the overall efficiency of this home (R-30 and R-40). The radiant heat built into the floor produces a warm floor with even heat. Water is heated in a propane fired boiler and pumped through tubing underneath travertine tile and through the wall mounted panels in the Family/Work Room. This heating system is virutally noise-free and does not create the blast of heat you get from a forced air system. The high beam ceilings are Pine. The kitchen has solid wood cabinetry and solid wood baseboards are throughout the house. The Recreation/Work room, which is 1534 Square Feet, has carpet and six large built-in bookcases and file cabinets plus a storage room. Four phone lines come into the work room and it is hardwired with Ethernet cables. High speed Internet is provided by Hughesnet Satellite System, which is operated by a dish on the attached garage. Screened in porch off of large Great Room with high beam ceilings. On 11 Acres-Horses Allowed.
